I was head of it and I was responisble for it. It was very exhausting because I was working very hard all those years. But oh how worth it. And we had to have it because the service men who came through here never saw any Hollywood people. 
Bette Davis took heat on her stance for an integrated military.
I always said the blacks got the same bullets as the whites and I refused to have them segregated in any corner of that canteen. That made some people feel I was too liberal.
